About Bradford Cyrenians

Bradford Cyrenians is a non-profit making organisation that provides a range of hostel, supported housing, floating support and other services for vulnerable communities. We have a service that supports men who are survivors of domestic abuse and a service that provides accommodation based support services to male and female ex-offenders. We provide a homes 4 life service run on the housing first model. We have an accommodation and floating support service for lone parents.

Mission Statement

Bradford Cyrenians is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness through the provision of safe and secure housing, advice and support.

Using an empowering approach we will work towards enabling vulnerable clients to find positive solutions whilst respecting their individual rights and choices.

We are a registered charity

The name Cyrenians is synonymous with homeless services worldwide and although its identity is bedded in Christian religious scriptures we are not a religious based organisation. This does not mean that we do not respect all religions and welcome people who require support from all religious and non-religious backgrounds.

Our ethos

Our ethos is based on an open and empowering model of support hence the reason our logo is an open door – Which universally means “Welcome”. Our doors are always open to people who need support.

Aims & Objectives

Our aims

Bradford Cyrenians was formed in 1972 in direct response to the lack of services for homeless people, including a growing concern around rough sleeping in the Bradford district. It is our aim to provide flexible, preventative support services to vulnerable communities who present with a wide range of multiple and complex issues.

  • 24-hour staffed  hostel for men
  • Supported tenancies for men and women
  • Dispersed housing project working with former Rough Sleepers
  • Floating support service
  • Men’s domestic abuse service consisting of confidential helpline, emergency crash pads, supported accommodation, floating support service, peer support group.
  • Accommodation based, outreach, floating support and prevention support service for ex-offending men, women and couples
  • Long stay Homes4 life service based on the housing first model
  • Accommodation based and floating support service for lone parents.

Our History

Bradford Cyrenians has been working with vulnerable homeless people since October 1972. This is when a group of volunteers got together and decided to open a soup run for homeless people.

Concerned that there were very few and limited services for homeless people in Bradford, but particularly for homeless men, the soup run led to the eventual development of our emergency hostel and then over the years we began to develop and manage a range of successful supported housing services.

Today, our work in the community continues as we expand into other areas where we can provide support and help to those most  in need.
