Our staff are trained professionals who provide advice, support and practical assistance to service users to help them develop life skills, increase their confidence and self-esteem and focus towards securing a permanent tenancy.  This is achieved by working closely and in partnership with the service user, using a support planning approach.   In order that the needs of individual service users can be met we will engage other local providers/partners including the Police, Probation, Drugs & Alcohol providers, GP’s, CPN’s and many other professionals.

Our support services vary depending on the type of service – for instance at out Hostel & Trainer Flats :

The Hostel:

We operate a 12-bed direct access hostel for homeless men aged 21-65 years of age, taking agency and self-referrals. The hostel provides a private bedroom with hand basin, shared bathrooms and toilet facilities.  A communal lounge, dining, kitchen area and laundry facilities are available to residents. The scheme is staffed 24 hours a day with guard cover at night. Breakfast and a 2-course evening meal are provided as part of the services we offer.  Due to the high support needs of service users we have protocols in place to work with other agencies that deliver surgeries from our site. They include:

·        A weekly Drugs surgery is delivered by the Bridge Project (a weekly surgery is also run at our Apsley site for all Move-on tenants).

·        A weekly Alcohol drop-on service delivered by Piccadilly Project

·        A quarterly Sexual Health group by Mesmac

·        Access to a Specialist Nurse via Bevan House

·        Monthly Hairdressing service

Trainer Flats:

Trainer flats is a scheme consisting of 3 flats that are located in the adjoining house to the hostel and therefore benefits from the 24 hours staffing/services available.  The service is aimed at working with men presenting with medium to high support needs and who benefit from an intensive support service.

Bradford Cyrenians also participates in local initiatives and wider strategic work aimed at improving current and future provision for Bradford’s homeless and vulnerable communities.  It is integral that we engage in dialogue with the Local authority and other strategic bodies such as Health and other funders in the future development of homeless services in order that gaps in provision can be met.

We also offer a duty support service which offers:-

A duty support service is available to all our service users, irrespective of where they live.  The service is available between 9.00 am to 12.00am.   Service users can access a range of help and support such as benefits advice, pay rent, and use the telephone to book appointments as well as access help in a crisis.
