Supported Tenancies

(Formerly Move-On Services)

We work in a client centred way with each service user and the support is tailored to their individual needs. Life skills are improved through keywork sessions and each service user has their own support plan which maps out the actions that they need to take to become tenancy ready.

Bradford Cyrenians service users may already face many barriers to accessing permanent suitable accommodation. Some of these barriers could include rent arrears, previous history of offending or anti-social behaviour, inability to manage a tenancy because of debt, inability to budget money, drug, alcohol, gambling or mental health issues. Another barrier which is becoming more prevalent is the lack of suitable one bedroom accommodation which is available to our service users.

When someone moves into our Supported Tenancies accommodation we continue to work with them to address their issues and find the best long term accommodation option for them

Re-Housing

Re-housing is discussed with each service user from the beginning of their stay. Through our support planning approach we identify the reasons that they became homeless and encourage them to address these issues. Once this has been achieved we can start the process of moving them on into the community.

Applications

All referrals  for the hostel and supported tenancies  come via Bradford Council Housing Options service.  If you are homeless and require accommodation please contact the housing options team

Once we receive a referral from Housing Options we will conduct a risk assessment based on the information that we receive and if we have a vacancy and you are suitable we will arrange for you to move in to the hostel or supported tenancies the same day.

Meeting Needs

We recognise that everyone is different and some may require more time and support before they can confidently move on into their own tenancy. For this reason, our own stock of move-on accommodation enables us to work with recivers of our support at a pace that meets their needs and enables them to focus on specific areas that might have contributed to their previous tenancy breaking down.

Scheme consists of 6 self-contained flats.

Independence

The services are aimed at preparing service users who intend to live independently.

Ripleyville

Scheme consists of 8 self-contained dispersed flats in the West Bowling area of Bradford. There is a maximum 6 months stay.

Keywork

Regular re-housing sessions and keywork sessions assists our tenants in securing permanent accommodation.

Scheme consists of 6 self-contained flats and 1 self-contained shared flat.

Short-stay

Our short-stay Parkfield Road housing scheme consists of 8 units for single men with low support needs where a floating support service is provided.

Facilities

They consist of 6 self-contained  flats and one shared flat where the 2 service users have their own bedroom and sitting room but share a bathroom and kitchen.

Service Users

We accommodate men who present with mild learning difficulties and/or mental health issues.  Service users have an opportunity to focus on their self-esteem and confidence issues as well as personal development goals.
